A mandoline slicer can drastically change the amount of time it takes to cut up anything from potatoes to stir fry vegetables to your favorite salad ingredients. Most are able to julienne as well. Having the right one is critical – you don’t want something that will just take up a lot of space and never get used, you want something that is easy to clean up and care for, and you want something that is going to deliver a lot of value: one that works and is gong to last as well.
So, with all these requirements in looking to see what items are available, it can take a very long time to decide which one is really going to be the best choice for you. Have no fear dear readers, that is why Kitgadget is here – to review all of the different products out there so you can have a one quick and easy place to learn about the different kinds, read user reviews, and choose the perfect one for you.
Now, the hardest thing about choosing the right slicer is safety. These slicers are VERY sharp, and it’s VERY easy for anyone to get hurt without practicing very careful cutting practices. Typically when you read a bad review on these products it always comes down to a safety concern or issue. While we agree that companies should make products that can be used safely, we sometimes laugh when we read a bad review that says it is sharp. Of course it is sharp! That is the point! So, please remember to extremely careful when using your new mandolin slicer!
Because these slicers are so difficult for beginners to learn how to use and because it is almost inevitable that at some point YOU WILL CUT YOURSELF, we found this awesome invention that everyone should definitely consider to also get when you buy your slicer, whether you are an experienced chef for a complete novice in the kitchen…

There are other gloves like this you can try as well, this was just the one that had the most positive reviews for the best price. Get the Glove Here!
Okay, now that safety is out of the way, onto the slicers!
Progressive International Folding Mandoline Slicer
This one caught our eye first because of its very low price – at only $16 one might be a little wary of a slicer for this little! However, it also has many glowing reviews, so it’s worth checking out for the budget savvy consumer. It features six different cutting blades for a variety of styles, though it does not do crinkle cuts. Dishwasher safe, it also is easy to store with its own storage box and a place for the extra blades to be stored underneath the unit. Is it the highest quality out there? Most likely not, but we can sleep at night recommending it as an economic choice that when used properly (and with safety gloves) will make your life a lot easier in the kitchen.
